Daning Road Primary School, a cherished institution in Northern Jing’an, Shanghai, is undergoing a stunning transformation thanks to a phased renovation plan developed by LINEWORKS in collaboration with the school. The completion of the second phase in 2024 introduced a beautifully reimagined teaching building, blending timeless charm with modern vibrancy and breathing new life into the campus.

校园的主入口毗邻密集的居民小区，因过往历经多次无规划的翻修与加建，现有校园入口元素杂乱，与校内建筑风格迥异，违和感强烈。设计团队决定运用块面交错叠加的手法，简洁干练地收纳整合主入口的视觉关系，赋予其焕然一新的面貌。同时，团队选用活泼鲜亮的黄色点亮人行入口的门洞，极大增强了校园入口在居民小区内的视觉辨识度，使其脱颖而出。这一轻松巧妙的设计手法也被延续至主教学楼的立面优化，确保校园建筑风格协调统一，浑然一体。

The main entrance of the campus sits adjacent to a densely populated residential neighbourhood, yet years of unplanned renovations and additions left it visually cluttered and starkly out of sync with the architectural style of the school. The design team tackled this challenge by employing an interplay of clean, overlapping geometric forms to streamline and redefine the entrance’s visual composition, giving it a fresh and cohesive appearance. To enhance its visibility, the team introduced a vibrant yellow accent to the pedestrian entrance, making it a standout feature of the neighbourhood. This playful yet sophisticated design language also extends to the main teaching building’s façade, creating a cohesive aesthetic that ties the entire campus together.

校园公共空间是展示校园文化和办学特色的重要平台。LINEWORKS 将大量木纹元素引入空间，利用其温润有机的质感，营造出亲切宜人的氛围。这与师生们精美的校园作品相衬，将鲜活的校园画卷徐徐铺展，令师生与来访者们在通行之余，能够自然地感受到学校独特的校园魅力和朝气蓬勃的办学活力。

Public spaces on campus are more than pathways—they are key stages for expressing the school’s culture and distinctive educational approach. LINEWORKS incorporated abundant wood-grain details into these areas, using their natural warmth and organic appeal to foster a sense of comfort and connection. Paired with the exquisite displays of student and faculty artworks, these spaces come alive, inviting everyone to experience the vibrant energy and unique character that define the school.

发光灯膜和线性灯条的大面积使用是本次室内空间改造中的亮点。设计团队利落干脆地将两种照明元素与天花板造型相融合，打造出一间间通透明亮且个性十足的教学空间，为课程教学提供激发无限创意的可能。

The extensive use of glowing light panels and linear light strips defines the interior transformation. By skilfully blending these lighting features with the ceiling design, the team has crafted classrooms that are open, bright, and uniquely expressive. The vibrant spaces not only elevate the atmosphere but also unlock endless creative opportunities for teaching and learning.
